| The Portland Céilí Society is run on a volunteer basis. We couldn’t do it without you. PCS needs volunteers for many things, bellow is a list of some of the volunteers we need. If you would like to volunteer please contact the Portland Céilí Society. Volunteers receive free admission to the event they volunteer.
We need volunteers to:
Load in/break down sound equipment
Want free admission to the Céilí! This is the most needed volunteer. PCS need a volunteer or two at each céilí to help load the sound equipment into the hall and to help break down the sound equipment. The volunteer who load needs to be at the hall by 7pm to assist the soundman. The volunteer who breaks down needs be at the hall at 12:30pm to help load out the equipment.
Work the door

Each céilí has several volunteers who work the door taking admission, stamping hands and giving raffle tickets. These shifts are one hour long and volunteers work in pairs. Each volunteer receives free admission to the céilí for their hour of service (a value of $8-$10). |
Distribute flyers
We can always use help distributing flyers and poster around town to local businesses and at events. We especially need flyers taken to Irish shops, music shops, Irish pubs, community centers, music and dance events, dance studios and neighborhoods in Portland and beyond. Volunteers who distribute flyers get a free pass to event they flyer. PCS has a list and addresses of key places to flyer, just contact us and we will set you up.
Decorate the hall
We decorate the hall for the October, March, December and New Years eve céilí dances. We need volunteers to come at 7pm and help decorate the hall for those months.
Photograph / video events
PCS need volunteers to take photographs during events. These photos would will be used for the website, publicity and archives.
Serve on Committees
PCS organizes committees for various aspects of the organization and for specials events. We are looking for members serve on committees.

Raffle items Donations
The Portland Céilí Society offers raffle prizes at every céilí. The raffle is a long-standing tradition at the Portland Céilí Society. In the past we have had many creative prizes, including Mr. Potato head, lepercon windsock and shamrock boxer shorts. We have also had lovely gifts, including jewelry, donated by local artists. You might also win a CD, concert tickets or admission to a great event.
Community members donate these prizes at each event. If you have a prize you would like to donate please bring it to the next céilí. You give the donation to the person working the door and it will be included in the raffle.
Perform
Members of the Portland Ceili Society will perform from time to time. Including appearances at local festivals, parties, weddings, ceili dances ect. If you would like to be part of this group as a dancer, musician or singer please contact us.
